Sharing Our Personal Stories: GATHER Film Excerpt
So many layers in this one quote. The first event in GATHER was a story circle led by Peter Aguero (whose voice you may recognize from The Moth) at the home of Alisha and John Hastings-Kimball in New Jersey. Beloved kindreds joined us: Dallas Curie, Denise Feldman, the radiant Paula Ridley, who is pictured here. Even Mia McLaughlin happened to be on the East Coast and jumped in! And so many more. Kindreds brought more kindreds, which is the greatest part of how these things go.
But this piece about why telling our stories matters is one of my core beliefs, and it applies to so much of what we make and create. Perhaps hidden in these lines was also a reminder to myself about the value of catching the stories in this film and sharing them. It's the language of my own Keep Going. Maybe it could also be yours.
